Calle Sur is the duo of Edgar East and Karin Stein.

Edgar East is Panamanian. His upbringing in Panama City meant noise, hustle, bustle, and those chaotic smells and sights so characteristic of any Third World metropolis.

Karin Stein, his Colombian partner, brings to the music of Calle Sur the perspective of her rural upbringing. Very rural, that is. She is a cowgirl from the eastern Llanos or plains of Colombia.

From Cuban to Colombian rhythms, from Brazilian to Bolivian instruments: Calle Sur brings to life the rich diversity of Latin American music, challenges cultural and ethnic preconceptions, and lifts spirits with the sheer energy and beauty of its performances. This charismatic Panamanian-Colombian duo takes audiences on a musical journey through many Latin American cultures.
